HS2AA In House of Lords Today

HS2AA is appearing today to respond to the application by HS2 Ltd and the Department for Transport challenging our “Locus Standi” to appear before the Committee of the House of Lords looking at the HS2 Hybrid Bill. In a cynical attempt to stifle debate and ensure that the case for enhanced environmental mitigation is not made, the Government is seeking to exclude HS2AA from having an opportunity to petition on route wide issues, using independent expert advice.

HS2AA’s team is led by James Burton of Essex Street Chambers with Hilary Wharf and the Rt Hon Cheryl Gillan MP as witnesses. We would like to thank our affiliated groups and individual supporters who have contributed evidence in the form of letters and emails ahead of our appearance.
