Privacy Policy & Legals

This privacy policy sets out how the campaign collects and uses any information you may give us when you visit this website.

Your privacy is a priority, and we go to great lengths to protect it.

What information do we collect?

We may collect, store and use two kinds of data, personal and behavioural.

Personal data relates to the information you provide to us in order to partake in the campaign, and includes your name, address, email address and post code. If you are writing to your MP, this information is particularly important, as it allows us to identify you as a constituent.

Behavioural data relates to information about your visit to and actions on this website, and includes your IP address, referrer, length of visit and number of page views. This information is essential for the website to work correctly, and allows us to improve the performance and functionality of the site.

How will we use your data?

The information you provide will be used to keep you up to date with our campaign, in particular to offer opportunities to engage with our activities. You may opt out from receiving such information at any time.

There are times when it may be advantageous for us to make certain information available to organisations and partners we have a strategic relationship with, or that perform work for our campaign to provide services on your behalf. In every instance, these organisations and partners are obligated to protect your data in accordance with our policies.

Your personal details will never be published on this site, though we may determine that for national security, law enforcement or other issues of public importance, disclosure is necessary. Issues of public importance include, but are not limited to, the delivery of campaign petitions and signatories to any relevant Government department.

Cookies

Cookies allow us to make the website easier to use, to provide you with a more personalised experience and to guard against malicious activities. You can remove or block cookies by changing the settings in your browser, but the functionality of the website may be affected.

You can find out more about cookies at www.allaboutcookies.org

Security

We have in place measures to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of the information under our control. All collected data is stored in locked, secure environments, and resides in the UK and, where in the US, on servers compliant with the EU Safe Harbour framework.

Other websites (here be dragons)

Our sites will almost certainly contain links to other websites, not under our control. As such, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information you may provide while visiting other sites, nor are said sites governed by this privacy policy. If you have any concerns, do refer to the privacy policy of the site in question.

Financial information

If you choose to make an online donation to the campaign, the transaction will be handled via PayPal. We only share information with PayPal to the extent necessary to process the transaction, but if you have any concerns you can review their own privacy statement at www.paypal.com.

We respect the rights of our donors, including: the right to be kept up to date on the campaign to which they have donated; the right to privacy; that their personal information will not be passed to third parties; and to be removed from mailing lists at any time.

Controlling your data

If the information we hold about you needs to be corrected or updated, you would like to be unsubscribed from our campaigns, or have any other questions or concerns about our use of your personal data, please contact us at info@hs2actionalliance.org.

To request a copy of any information we hold about you, please send proof of identity to info@hs2actionalliance.org. We will reply within 40 days.

Further to the disclosures identified elsewhere in this policy, we will only disclose personal information to third parties if required by law to do so.

Legal (some smallprint)

Donations to HS2AA are confidential.

In the event the directors of HS2AA determine HS2 Action Alliance should be wound up, HS2AA will give all regular donors to its general fund at least six weeks notice to allow time for payments to be cancelled. Thereafter, and following settlement of all bills due etc, general funds will be equally distributed to the following charities:

Age UK

British Heart Foundation

NSPCC

By donating to HS2AA’s general fund, via any mechanism, you are accepting these published terms.

Different terms apply if you have donated to HS2AA Legal Fund. All amounts given to the HS2AA Legal Fund are used solely to fund legal challenges relating to HS2 and will not be spent on general campaign activities. To the extent that anyone donates £250 or more to the account (‘special donations’) then, if there is any excess of special donations left in the HS2AA Legal Fund after all costs etc of the proceedings have been paid or provided for, or in the event that the legal proceedings do not proceed, then that excess will be refunded pro rata to all persons who have made special donations. Please ensure that we have your details so that we can ensure that this can happen.  Any excess of other lesser donations, and including any special donations where we do not hold the contact details of the donor, would accrue to HS2 Action Alliance for its general campaign funds to help fight HS2. More detailed conditions in respect of payments to the legal fund account can be provided on request to treasurer@hs2actionalliance.org

Any requests for special arrangements for donation refunds should be sent, prior to donation arrangements being completed, to the HS2AA Treasurer at treasurer@hs2actionalliance.org
