Property blight data

To make the case for improved compensation, we needed hard facts about property blight following the 11 March announcement. Thankyou for helping us get those facts.

Pilot Study results

As part of our final 17 June 2010 submission to the DfT on the Exceptional Hardship Scheme, HS2AA conducted a Property Blight Pilot Study.  You can read the executive summary here, look at the full report, and our covering letter to HS2 Ltd/DfT.  This was produced from those giving individual property details through this page, surveys of Estate Agents conducted by many Action Groups, and work we did to understand the role of others in the sales process ie Local Authorities, Surveyors, Solicitors and crucially Mortgage Lenders, and how they were treating HS2.

What the study shows is that blight is extensive on all the routes, and institutions (local authorities, solicitors, surveyors and lenders) are re-inforcing and spreading that blight.

What next?

As the Pilot Study says, we are looking at now arranging for a larger scale study. So if you are having difficulty selling your home because of HS2, or know someone who is, then please get in touch as we will need your data.

You can contact us by using the form on the right and providing the details requested.

If you prefer, just send us an email to info@hs2actionalliance.org and tell us how we can make contact.

Any personal information will be treated confidentially and only used statistically for the future report. We don't even need your name, just enough to keep gathering the facts to prove to Government that blight is real, and will stay real until we have a fair and just compensation scheme.

Send your info on how the HS2 has affected you
